The Lettings Index from Countrywide Estate Agents shows that more than 340,000 new tenants signed up to let a property in 2012 compared with 275,000 in 2011. This rising demand for rental properties coupled with more readily available, and more competitively priced mortgages is creating a good opportunity for investor landlords to expand their portfolios as renting for longer becomes the norm.
